Ranger Salary (one month)

Poachers, international traffickers, and corrupt officials view killing rhinos for their horns, killing animals to sell as bushmeat, and trapping wildlife for the illegal pet trade as a lucrative business. Unfortunately, the Anti- Poaching ranger units (APUs) defending wildlife are not receiving the same level of support or funding as the criminal networks, and/or the funds are not distributed in a way that fully supports the ground efforts. Rangers spend most their time protecting wildlife by living in the environment with the animals that they are protecting. They patrol for long hours under harsh environmental conditions, and usually do so for little pay. They literally put their lives on the line to protect wildlife and they need all the help they can get. The average salary for a ranger in Africa is about $150 per month. We want to give them a raise!
